Some dogs do not get a second chance. We give it to them.
Back home in Masaka, Uganda, the local council regularly rounds up stray dogs and puts them down. Some of them are puppies. Some are old. Most have done nothing wrong except not have a home.
We take in as many as we can. The shelter is not big or polished. It is a piece of land, a small team, food, vet care, and a lot of patience. We get them healthy, get them socialised, and slowly build them back up.
Once they are ready, we rehome them with families and individuals in the community who continue the care. Some have been with the same families for years now. That is the part that makes the rest of it worth it.
